Do The Right Thing

UWS Zero Waste Cook Off.

Our resourceful UWS students make sure nothing in their cupboards goes to waste at the end of term and save quite a bit of cash (about a tenner per dish except for the super cheap crumble made from free apples picked in Glasgow!)

The issue of food waste is a big deal! As a country we throw away half a million tonnes of food from our households a year- most of this could be avoided!

The ZERO WASTE COOK OFF is part of UWS Transition's guide to a planet-friendly diet.

UWS Zero Waste Cook Off

Hello from UWS Transition!

Along  with running workshops and getting students' to prepare more of their own meals we also look in to our relationship with food on a global scale.

How our food is sourced and processed; how far it has come from and how it has been transported; what we choose to eat and how often; what are the healthy options; what is affordable; how much we throw away?
